n 1. A sweet substance made from (ground) almonds, sugar and eggs, generally used as filling for cookies and bread. 2. An argument or idea that is repeatedly brought up during an argument or heated discussion with the goal of slowing the process of reaching a compromise.
v 1. To bring up arguments that add nothing of substance to a discussion with the goal of slowing process of reaching a compromise. ex – The president was almondspicing the discussion by reminding his opponent of the amount of marbles sent to Iraq.
Origin: literal translation from Dutch ‘amandelspijs’ (correct translation would have been ‘almondbutter’)
