During an interview with AP (after having attended a meeting between CEOS and legislators), Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer was talking about the upcoming security patches and internet/computer security. The following words were noted by me:
Mr Ballmer said that parents had a duty to educate their children about how to stay safe online and how to avoid some of the net’s more dangerous areas. “We need to oversee and use technology and teach our children what’s appropriate,” Mr Ballmer said. “Some of it’s still going to have to come from parents kind of teaching their kids what’s right. That was true even before the internet.”
For a brief moment I was thinking about the future and the upcoming phase of republican enlightment: Internet Celibacy. You know that’s when you tell your kids that there is no ‘safe surfing’ and the best way to protect yourself from the Internet and virusses is to… well, stay off it, naturally!
I feel so brilliant today.
