Aruba troubles

Here’s something weird I noticed: the case of the missing American girl Aruba (which happens to be part of the Netherlands) gets a lot more mediaplay in the US than in the Netherlands. There’s a fragment of an interview between a CNN anchor and the teenager’s girl that summarizes the American view:

COLLINS: It’s been almost three weeks now since your daughter, Natalee disappeared. No charges have been filed. And some people believe that the police have made crucial mistakes in their investigation. What’s your opinion at this point of how the police have handled the case?

So, has this case been handled the wrong way by Aruban authorities, or are there just strict Dutch laws in effect?
