It&#8217;s a bit of everything, but mostly it&#8217;s supposed to be a &#8216;database&#8217; (<em>base<\/em>) for everything or something. All, nice and well until the spammers come out. I honestly expected Google Base to be something like a &#8216;database&#8217; front-end for stuff you wanted to save alongside your Gmail e-mails. Sort of like, users define their own fields and that, like an Access online. Something to store quick notes in. Thinking of it, heck, where is that <em>calendar<\/em> for Gmail? (yes, even Google search says it&#8217;s coming).\n<\/li>\n<li>Hey. SourceForge has changed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sf.net\">their looks<\/a>. It reminds of uh-like-uh, C-Net!\n<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s <em>secret memo month<\/em>! Huzzah! <a href=\"http:\/\/developers.slashdot.org\/developers\/05\/11\/18\/2137213.shtml?tid=95&#038;tid=109&#038;tid=156\">What&#8217;s that you say<\/a>?\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/search?q=cenotaph\">Cenotaph<\/a> vs. <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/search?q=epittaph\">Epitaph<\/a>.\n<\/li>\n<li>Related to above (as in this week&#8217;s word finds): The <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/search?q=big+house\">Big House<\/a> is really big, I suppose.\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Today, I learned that I can make printed copies of everything on the Internet. Or rather <em>in it<\/em>, if you think of the Internet as a book. How many people read books? Apparently, the Dutch <em>can&#8217;t<\/em> live <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nu.nl\/news\/627564\/50\/Internet_onmisbaar_voor_Nederlanders.html\">without the Internet<\/a> (in Dutch):\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"quote\">Over 51 percent of the people questioned, <em>absolutely<\/em> agreed on the statement that &#8216;the Internet is a crucial part of their life&#8217;. The rest of the people questioned is divided over &#8216;sort of agree&#8217; (22 percent)  and &#8216;not at all&#8217; (10 percent).<\/p>\n<p>Somewhat related to <a href=\"http:\/\/mamadunce.blogspot.com\/2005\/11\/more-on-fcp.html\">this<\/a>: we need more power outages to learn to appreciate <em>idle<\/em> conversation. There&#8217;s truth in that.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>I found out that I mumble a lot after I&#8217;ve stared too many hours at the screen, programming or analysing data. I put in a ticket for that. Soon on your local radiostation: &#8220;Help Arthur Talk Through  It&#8221; &#8211; drives.\n<\/li>\n<li>Knowing everything about computers is the latest <em>macho-craze<\/em> nowadays:\n<p>&#8211;  &#8216;Are you the\/a Programmer??&#8217;<br \/>\n* &#8216;What did you expect me to look like? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0244244\/\">Hugh Jackman<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>\nRelated: <a href=\"http:\/\/weblog.burningbird.net\/2005\/11\/14\/beauty-is-only-geek-deep\/\">Geek Calendar!<\/a>.
