{"id":756,"date":"2005-09-17T17:11:00","date_gmt":"2005-09-17T20:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?p=756"},"modified":"2005-09-17T17:12:27","modified_gmt":"2005-09-17T20:12:27","slug":"alternet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?p=756","title":{"rendered":"Alternet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"dropcap\">I<\/span><a href=\".\/wp-content\/alternetoldandnew.jpg\"><img src='.\/wp-content\/thumb-alternetoldandnew.jpg' class=\"alignright\" alt='Alternet' \/><\/a> haven&#8217;t read or touched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alternet.org\">Alternet<\/a> since last year and when returning today I must confess I&#8217;m impressed with the site&#8217;s layout that it makes me wonder <em>what they are running on their backend<\/em>. <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20041127085407\/http:\/\/www.alternet.org\/\">(Compare it with the 2004 site)<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>Previously, a favourite for clean layout was <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20040611000305\/http:\/\/maisonneuve.org\/\">Maisonneuve<\/a>, the artsy (Quebec based) online publication.  Compare that with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maisonneuve.org\">today&#8217;s site<\/a>: it&#8217;s horrendous. Obviously, they run Drupal (note that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theonion.com\">The Onion&#8217;s<\/a> migration to Drupal actually went pretty good: you can&#8217;t tell it&#8217;s on Drupal).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I haven&#8217;t read or touched Alternet since last year and when returning today I must confess I&#8217;m impressed with the site&#8217;s layout that it makes me wonder what they are running on their backend.
