With the signatures of Congo and Ecuador, 100 countries have   &#8216;underscored the intention to protect their citizens from tobacco related diseases&#8217;. Remarkably, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/tobacco\/areas\/framework\/signing_ceremony\/countrylist\/en\/\">list of countries does not include the US<\/a>. There&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2004\/03\/24\/BUG855Q18D1.DTL\">reason for that<\/a>.  Or maybe <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/health\/2798857.stm\">not<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>No, really, a couple of weeks ago, the CDC released a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nccdphp\/factsheets\/death_causes2000.htm\">factsheet of &#8216;common causes of death&#8217; in the US in 2000<\/a>.
