{"id":2191,"date":"2009-06-28T15:34:43","date_gmt":"2009-06-28T19:34:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?p=2191"},"modified":"2009-06-28T15:34:43","modified_gmt":"2009-06-28T19:34:43","slug":"in-full-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?p=2191","title":{"rendered":"In Full Force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"dropcap\">A<\/span> couple of days ago I ran into a blog post called <a href=\"http:\/\/techconex.com\/tcblog\/2008\/04\/05\/mapping-world-war-iii-soviet-global-invasion-routes\/\">&#8216;Soviet Global Invasion Routes&#8217;<\/a>, which has a collection of 80s maps showing the expected Soviet attack routes over the various continents (hyperlinks: <a href=\"http:\/\/techconex.com\/images\/wwiii\/western_Sm.jpg\">West Europe<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/techconex.com\/images\/wwiii\/far_east_sm.jpg\">East Asia<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/techconex.com\/images\/wwiii\/southern_sm.jpg\">Middle East<\/a>). These were apparently maps made by American analysts and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/worldnews\/comments\/8tp5b\/department_of_defense_maps_of_probable_soviet\/\">the number of comments at Reddit<\/a> seem to either suggest that nobody knew about this or everybody knew this is &#8216;old hat&#8217;.\n<\/p>\n<p>It is &#8216;old hat&#8217;: like other people who served in Western European conscription armies we were thoroughly drilled and taught about the &#8216;German plains tank battle&#8217; in case of a showdown between the Red Army and NATO.
