{"id":1436,"date":"2007-03-03T23:07:16","date_gmt":"2007-03-04T03:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?p=1436"},"modified":"2007-10-06T10:13:58","modified_gmt":"2007-10-06T13:13:58","slug":"where-was-that-moon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?p=1436","title":{"rendered":"Where was that moon?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"dropcap\">W<\/span>e had <a href='http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?attachment_id=1435' rel='attachment wp-att-1435' title='Moon rising above the treeline'><img class=\"alignright\" src='http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/03\/lun_ar_ec_lipse.thumbnail.jpg' alt='Moon rising above the treeline' \/><\/a>a hard time locating the moon today, as we were anticipating the lunar eclipse (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?p=1432\">earlier<\/a>).\n<\/p>\n<p>Nothing happened at 5:30 PM, apparently and it wasn&#8217;t until 6 that we finally saw that moon coming from behind the distant tree\/mountain line. Yeah, that figures: we should hire some explosives experts to blow up the mountains so that a future eclipse is for all to enjoy.\n<\/p>\n<p>It was harder though to make photos with the 50 mm, particularly later that night: the town lights obviously refracted in the lens and turned  the (hardly visible) moon into a full-duracell-powered moon. A kind of undesired effect that you can only get away by using an ultra high ISO setting and the lowest (or longest, whichever you prefer) possible time-stop.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"extra\"><small>update 03\/10\/07: <a href=\"http:\/\/antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap070308.html\">APOD&#8217;s image of that day (which appears to be a combination of 2 separate shots)<\/a><\/small><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We had a hard time locating the moon today, as we were anticipating the lunar eclipse (earlier).
