{"id":1210,"date":"2006-08-19T09:15:04","date_gmt":"2006-08-19T12:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?p=1210"},"modified":"2006-08-19T09:39:05","modified_gmt":"2006-08-19T12:39:05","slug":"hi-tech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?p=1210","title":{"rendered":"Hi Tech"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"dropcap\">I<\/span>&#8216;m <a id=\"p1209\" rel=\"attachment\" class=\"imagelink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/?attachment_id=1209\" title=\"It's almost to good to be true!\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hoogervorst.ca\/arthur\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/techcrunchinie3.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"It's almost too good to be true!\" \/><\/a>shocked to find out the latest <a href=\"http:\/\/scobleizer.wordpress.com\/2006\/08\/18\/thank-you-dave-winer-now-i-can-read-techcrunch-on-my-cell-phone\/\">Hi-Tech in webdevelopment<\/a>: apparently it&#8217;s possible to take <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techcrunch.com\">some site&#8217;s RSS<\/a> and convert it back to <a href=\"http:\/\/techcrunch.scripting.com\/\">plain HTML<\/a> so that it can be read on Windows Mobile Devices!\n<\/p>\n<p>This is such an achievement that we all can get our old Internet Explorers (3.0, right?) out of the <em>&#8216;diskette-box&#8217;<\/em> so we can read Techcrunch <em>without<\/em> the markup. That&#8217;s evil of me, you say? Hey: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hpcfactor.com\/support\/cesd\/s\/0001.asp\">Pocket Internet Explorer<\/a> was developed out of Internet Explorer 3.\n<\/p>\n<p>That said: I downloaded FireFox 2.0 (Beta!), just to see the &#8216;shiny buttons&#8217; Alfons was talking about in one of the postings below. I&#8217;m not sure what Mozilla&#8217;s contingency plan is regarding installing newer versions of Firefox on top of older ones. If you feel obliged, you can download FireFox from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/projects\/bonecho\/releases\/2.0b1.html\">Mozilla&#8217;s BonEcho<\/a> pages. However, what is impressive about this FireFox release is that it is able to restore sessions, which comes in handy if your browser crashed (Reminder to self to make a screenshot of Firefox restoring the original state).\n<\/p>\n<p>Talking about browsers, there are people who managed to port <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webkit.org\/\">KHTML to Windows<\/a>, which is called &#8216;Webkit&#8217; in Apple terms. There&#8217;s even a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.getswift.org\">working Webkit-based browser for Windows<\/a>, which can be used for browsing but that&#8217;s about it.
